UNIBO - University of Bologna is the oldest continually operating degree-granting university in the world: the word 'university' being first used by this institution at its foundation. Its history is one of great thinkers in science and the humanities, making it an indispensable point of reference in the panorama of European culture. The whole University counts about 100,000 students in its 23 faculties and it has been ranked as one of the world's top 50 universities. Its branch centers are widespread in a 100 km radium on Romagna area and Adriatic coast. The University of Bologna has adopted a multicampus structure in order to permit the diffusion of educational offering and the activation of a stabile research activity for a better integration with social life and productive world. The campuses of Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini were formed and the University recognizes specific forms of autonomy so as to allow for the financial and organizational programming.
